Target Information
In felines, Lutropin Subunit Beta (LHB) is the beta subunit of luteinizing hormone (LH), which forms an active hormone when combined with an alpha subunit. LH, secreted by the pituitary gland, promotes ovulation and spermatogenesis by stimulating steroid synthesis in the gonads. LHB confers biological specificity to LH, regulating reproductive functions such as follicle maturation and luteinization. Mutations in the LHB gene can lead to hypogonadism, characterized by infertility and pseudohermaphroditism.
