Target Information
In mice, Angiopoietin-Related Protein 1 (Angptl1) is a multifunctional protein involved in angiogenesis, cancer progression, and bone metabolism. Angptl1 is known as a potent anti-angiogenic factor, inhibiting the proliferation and migration of endothelial cells. It also exhibits antiapoptotic activity in human endothelial cells by stimulating the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and Akt-1. In cancer, Angptl1 expression is down-regulated in several tumor types, including colorectal cancer, where it inhibits epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) by suppressing Slug expression, thereby reducing tumor metastasis. Additionally, Angptl1 has been shown to inhibit osteoclast formation and promote osteoblast differentiation, playing a role in bone metabolism. Overall, Angptl1 is a versatile protein with potential applications in cancer therapy and bone-related disorders.
