Target Information

Mouse Alpha-Defensin 1 (Defa1) is a member of the defensin family of antimicrobial peptides, which play a crucial role in the innate immune response. Defa1 is highly expressed in neutrophils and is released at sites of infection to combat invading pathogens. It exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, contributing to the first line of defense against infections. Defa1 also modulates immune responses by interacting with immune cells and promoting the recruitment of neutrophils and macrophages to the site of infection.
