Target Information
Mouse Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase 1 (Acaca) is a key enzyme involved in lipid metabolism, specifically in the carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA. This reaction is a crucial step in fatty acid synthesis, providing the malonyl-CoA required for the elongation of fatty acid chains. Acaca is highly expressed in tissues with high rates of fatty acid synthesis, such as the liver and adipose tissue. It plays a significant role in regulating lipid homeostasis and energy metabolism. In mouse models, Acaca has been implicated in various metabolic disorders, including obesity and type 2 diabetes. Additionally, Acaca is involved in the regulation of autophagy and has been shown to influence cell proliferation and apoptosis.
