Recombinant Guinea Pig C-reactive Protein (CRP), N-His-SUMO

Guinea pig C-reactive protein (CRP) is an acute-phase protein that increases significantly in response to inflammation and tissue injury. It functions as an opsonin, binding to bacterial, fungal, and parasitic residues to activate complement and enhance phagocytosis. CRP also modulates cytokine production and chemotaxis, playing a role in both upregulating and downregulating inflammatory responses. In guinea pigs, CRP can inhibit superoxide production and intracellular calcium mobilization in alveolar macrophages, suggesting its role in attenuating tissue damage. Additionally, CRP has been shown to decrease anaphylactic reactions in guinea pigs, highlighting its potential in regulating immune responses. These properties make CRP a valuable marker and potential therapeutic target for inflammatory and immune-related conditions.
