Target Information

In felines, T-cell-specific surface glycoprotein CD28 (CD28) is a costimulatory receptor expressed on T cells. It binds to CD80 or CD86 on antigen-presenting cells (APCs) to provide a second signal for T cell activation. CD28 plays a crucial role in T cell activation, proliferation, survival, and immune homeostasis. It enhances IL-2 production and cell survival gene expression, promoting immune responses. Studies in feline models suggest that CD28 costimulation is vital for regulating T cell function and developing anti-viral or anti-tumor immunotherapies.
