Target Information
Chicken CCN Family Member 3 (CCN3), also known as nephroblastoma overexpressed protein (NOV), is a matricellular protein that plays a significant role in various biological processes. It was first isolated from a nephroblastoma in chicks induced by the myeloblastosis-associated virus (MAV) . CCN3 is involved in cell adhesion, migration, and survival, and it can promote angiogenesis through interactions with integrins such as αvβ3 and α5β1 . In chickens, CCN3 is expressed in multiple tissues, including endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells, and fibroblasts, where it helps regulate cardiovascular homeostasis and tissue repair . Abnormal expression of CCN3 has been implicated in fibrosis and cancer, where it can either promote or inhibit tumor progression depending on the context . Additionally, CCN3 has been shown to interact with regulatory T cells (Tregs) and influence immune responses .
