Target Information

IGHE encodes the constant region of the immunoglobulin E (IgE) heavy chain in dogs. It plays a pivotal role in the canine adaptive immune response, particularly in mediating Type I hypersensitivity and defense against parasitic infections. Upon binding to high-affinity Fc epsilon RI receptors on mast cells and basophils, it triggers the release of inflammatory mediators. It is a critical target for research into canine atopic dermatitis, allergic asthma, and the development of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies.
