Target Information
Bovine hemopexin (HPX) is a heme-binding plasma glycoprotein that plays a critical role in the management of free heme in the body. It binds to free heme with high affinity, preventing heme-induced oxidative stress and damage. HPX is involved in the transport of heme to the liver for degradation, thus maintaining heme homeostasis. This protein is also an acute-phase reactant, with its plasma concentration decreasing when the hemoglobin-binding capacity of haptoglobin is exceeded, indicating its role in assessing the severity of intravascular hemolysis.
Shipping and Storage
This product is shipped with dry ice. It is recommended to aliquot as needed and store at -80°C upon receipt. Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 4°C for 1 week, at < -80°C for 12 months. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
