Target Information
Canine Beta-2-microglobulin (β2M) is a protein that plays a crucial role in the immune system, particularly in the function of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules. It is a component of MHC class I molecules, helping to stabilize their structure and facilitating the presentation of peptides to CD8+ T cells, which is essential for immune surveillance and defense against viral infections and tumors. In dogs, β2M is also used as a biomarker for various diseases, including immunological disorders and certain types of cancer, and can reflect the status of renal function due to its filtration by the kidneys.
