Target Information
Bovine syndecan-1 (SDC1) is a transmembrane protein that belongs to the syndecan family of heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs). It is involved in a variety of biological processes such as cell adhesion, migration, and proliferation, as well as in the binding of cells to the extracellular matrix. SDC1 is particularly expressed by epithelial cells and plays a role in cell differentiation and tissue morphogenesis. In cattle, SDC1 has been associated with growth traits, including birth weight and body length, suggesting its potential as a molecular marker for these traits.
