Target Information
Rat tryptase beta 2 (TPSAB2) is a tetrameric serine protease of the tryptase family, predominantly expressed in mast cells. It features a conserved catalytic triad of His-Asp-Ser residues, a unique tetramerization domain, and disulfide bond motifs critical for structural stability and enzymatic activity. It localizes to the secretory granules of rat connective tissue and mucosal mast cells, with tissue-specific expression in lung, skin and gastrointestinal tract, and negligible levels in non-mast cell populations. The protein mediates proteolytic cleavage of target substrates and inflammatory response modulation, with conserved motifs for substrate recognition and activation. Rat TPSAB2 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tetramer stability differentiating it from tryptase alpha and other tryptase isoforms.
