Target Information

Rat low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) is a 120 kDa type-I membrane glycoprotein whose seven LA repeats and EGF precursor region fold into a pH-sensitive clamp that captures LDL particles. A solvent-exposed 14-aa "KVE" loop (aa 265-278) between LA4 and LA5 folds into a β-hairpin unique among rat LDLR family members, presenting a conformational epitope preserved after fixation. Affinity-purified antibodies targeting this loop trace native LDLR in hepatic sinusoids, adrenal cortex, and vascular endothelium, delivering crisp membrane rings and single-band clarity on immunoblots with no cross-reaction to LRP1 or VLDLR.
