Target Information
Mouse Peripheral Myelin Protein 22 (PMP22) is a key component of peripheral nerve myelin. It is predominantly expressed in Schwann cells, where it contributes to the formation and maintenance of myelin sheaths. PMP22 is essential for proper nerve conduction and the structural integrity of peripheral nerves. Abnormal expression or mutations in PMP22 are associated with demyelinating neuropathies, such as Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. It is an important target for studying peripheral nerve biology and related neurological disorders in mouse models.
