Target Information

Rat intersectin 1 (ITSN1) is a multi-domain adaptor protein with conserved modular structures, a core mediator of endocytic trafficking and intracellular signal transduction. It features two N-terminal Eps15 homology domains for clathrin-coated vesicle assembly, five Src homology 3 domains for protein-protein interaction, and a C-terminal Dbl homology domain critical for guanine nucleotide exchange activity. It localizes predominantly to the cytoplasm and plasma membrane of rat neuronal cells, epithelial cells and immune cells, with negligible expression in mature erythrocytes. The protein mediates the coordination of endocytosis and signaling cascades, with conserved structural motifs differentiating it from ITSN2 isoform.
