Mouse XRN1 is a cytoplasmic ribonuclease with conserved catalytic and RNA-binding domains that maintain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It exists in nearly all somatic cell populations and assembles multi-subunit complexes to interact with RNA substrates within cytoplasmic compartments. Its multi-domain nucleic acid-processing framework and ubiquitous tissue expression differentiate it from secreted signaling cytokines, transmembrane cell surface receptors and nuclear transcription factors with simplified single-domain assemblies concentrated in limited specialized cell subgroups.
