Target Information

Mouse Transglutaminase 3 (TGase 3), also known as epidermal transglutaminase, is a calcium-dependent enzyme predominantly expressed in the epidermis and other stratified epithelia. It catalyzes the formation of covalent cross-links between proteins, contributing to the formation of the cornified envelope, a rigid protein network that provides mechanical strength and barrier function to the skin. TGase 3 is essential for maintaining skin integrity and barrier function, playing a crucial role in the terminal differentiation of keratinocytes. As a key enzyme in epidermal biology, TGase 3 is an important target for studying skin development and related disorders.
