Target Information
Mouse orexin (hypocretin) is a 33-aa neuropeptide processed from prepro-orexin in lateral-hypothalamic neurons. It targets two GPCRs-OX1R and OX2R-triggering Ca²⁺ influx and PI3K/MAPK cascades that sustain wakefulness, feeding and reward. Its C-terminal amphipathic α-helix presents a unique, species-restricted epitope ideal for antibody generation; anti-orexin immunoreagents detect intact peptide and its C-terminally amidated form in brain lysates, CSF and cultured neurons without cross-reacting with related neuropeptides, providing a precise read-out of hypothalamic activity.

This product is shipped with wet ice packs. Store at -20°C on receipt (up to 12 months). Avoid repeated freezing and thawing as this may denature the antibody.
