Mouse NUP50 is a small nucleoporin featuring conserved nucleoporin interaction and nuclear localization motifs that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It localizes to nuclear pore complexes on the nuclear envelope of all nucleated somatic cell populations. Its scaffold role within nuclear transport channels and ubiquitous cellular expression differentiate it from cell-surface transmembrane receptors, secreted extracellular ligands and cytoplasmic signaling adaptors with streamlined single-domain assemblies and static single-compartment subcellular localization profiles.
