Target Information

Rat nucleoporin 50kDa (Nup50) is a soluble nucleoporin protein of the nuclear pore complex family. It features a conserved N-terminal Ran-binding domain, a central FG-repeat region and a C-terminal nuclear localization signal critical for structural integrity. It localizes to nuclear pore complexes and nucleoplasm, with tissue-specific expression in rat proliferative tissues including thymus, spleen and embryonic liver, with minimal levels in quiescent adult muscle. The protein mediates nucleocytoplasmic transport and cargo interaction, with conserved motifs for binding specificity. Rat Nup50 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct binding affinity differentiating it from Nup62 and Nup98.
