Target Information
Mouse collagen type VI alpha 3 (COL6A3) is a secreted fibrillar collagen subunit, assembling with COL6A1 and COL6A2 to form extracellular microfibrils. It features conserved N-terminal von Willebrand factor A domains, central triple-helical collagenous regions, and C-terminal globular domains critical for structural assembly and ligand binding. It localizes to the extracellular matrices of mouse skeletal muscle, skin and connective tissues, with negligible levels in neural and hematopoietic tissues. The protein mediates cell-matrix adhesion and tissue integrity maintenance, with conserved motifs for binding to integrins and matrix proteoglycans. Mouse COL6A3 shares core functional domains with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct tissue distribution differentiating it from other collagen alpha subunits.
