Rat CAR is a nuclear ligand-activated receptor with conserved ligand-binding and DNA-interacting domains that sustain stable protein conformation under physiological conditions. It is predominantly detected in hepatic cell populations and forms heterodimeric complexes with auxiliary nuclear factors within chromatin compartments. Its multi-domain transcriptional regulatory architecture and liver-enriched expression distinguish it from secreted immune cytokines, transmembrane cell surface receptors and cytoplasmic metabolic enzymes with simplified single-domain assemblies broadly distributed across various non-hepatic somatic cell subgroups.
