Target Information

Goat lactoferrin is a multifunctional glycoprotein found in goat milk and other secretions, with a molecular weight of approximately 80 kDa. It is highly conserved across species and shares significant homology with human lactoferrin. This protein exhibits potent antimicrobial activity against bacteria, viruses, and fungi by sequestering iron and disrupting microbial membranes. Additionally, goat lactoferrin has anti-inflammatory properties, modulating the immune response by regulating the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. It is also involved in iron homeostasis, which is crucial for immune system function.
