Target Information
Bovine prolactin receptor (PRLR) is a transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the PRLR gene in Bos taurus, mapped to chromosome 20. It belongs to the cytokine receptor superfamily, featuring an extracellular ligand-binding domain with conserved cytokine receptor homology regions, a single transmembrane segment and an intracellular signaling domain. It localizes to cell membrane, with tissue-specific expression in bovine mammary gland, ovary, uterus and liver, with low levels in skeletal muscle and adipose tissues. PRLR mediates intracellular signal transduction upon ligand binding, with conserved structural motifs critical for dimerization and activation. Bovine PRLR shares high homology with mammalian orthologs, and has distinct ligand-binding affinity that differentiates it from other cytokine receptor family members.
