Target Information

Bovine Interleukin 8 (IL8) is a potent pro-inflammatory chemokine belonging to the CXC subfamily. It is produced by various cell types, including macrophages, neutrophils, and epithelial cells, in response to inflammatory stimuli. IL-8 plays a crucial role in neutrophil recruitment and activation, promoting neutrophil transmigration across endothelial barriers and accumulation at sites of inflammation. This chemokine binds to the receptors CXCR1 and CXCR2, leading to the release of reactive oxygen species and pro-inflammatory molecules. Bovine IL-8 is also involved in the immune response to infections such as bovine respiratory disease and mastitis.
