Target Information
Nitrazepam is a benzodiazepine derivative with potent sedative, anxiolytic, and hypnotic properties. In aquaculture and animal husbandry, it is sometimes illegally used as an unauthorized sedative to reduce stress, aggression, and physical activity during the transport of livestock or fish, thereby minimizing weight loss and mortality. However, nitrazepam residues can persist in animal-derived foods such as meat, fish, and eggs. Consuming contaminated food can lead to sedative drug accumulation in humans, causing central nervous system depression, drowsiness, dizziness, and potential dependency risks.
