Target Information

Hemagglutinin is the primary surface glycoprotein of the H2N2 Influenza A virus, famously responsible for the 1957 "Asian Flu" pandemic. It functions as a homotrimer, with each monomer cleaved into HA1 and HA2 subunits. HA1 facilitates viral attachment by binding to host alpha 2,6-linked sialic acid receptors, while HA2 undergoes a pH-dependent conformational shift to mediate membrane fusion. As a major antigen, H2 HA is a critical target for broad-spectrum neutralizing antibodies and universal vaccine research.
