Target Information

Erns (formerly E0) is a unique structural glycoprotein of Classical Swine Fever Virus. Unlike E1 and E2, it lacks a typical membrane anchor and is both virion-associated and secreted from infected cells. It possesses intrinsic RNase activity (T2 RNase family), which is a key virulence factor that suppresses host innate immunity by degrading viral dsRNA and inhibiting Type I Interferon (IFN-alpha/beta) production. Additionally, Erns mediates initial viral attachment by binding to cellular heparan sulfate and laminin receptors.
