Target Information
Leukocyte cell-derived chemotaxin 1 functions as a bifunctional growth regulator that promotes the growth of cultured chondrocytes when basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF) is present, while inhibiting the growth of cultured vascular endothelial cells. This protein may facilitate rapid cartilage growth and vascular invasion before cartilage is replaced by bone during the process of endochondral bone development. During mouse embryonic development, the expression pattern of the LECT1 gene suggests that it plays a crucial role in morphogenesis. LECT1 is found in various fetal mouse tissues, including the pericardium, bronchi, roof plate, retina, and limb buds. In studies of traumatic temporomandibular joint ankylosis, the LECT1 gene shows significantly increased expression, implying a role in post-traumatic inflammatory response and cell migration. Additionally, LECT1 has been identified in the bone marrow of newborn mice, indicating a potential role in bone development and cell differentiation.
