Target Information

IgG2a is a crucial antibody subtype in the mouse immune system, contributing to immune protection by binding to specific antigens. For example, in a cysticercosis infection model, mice exhibited a significant increase in IgG2a levels in response to cysticercosis proteins like p71, p31, and p14, highlighting its key role in the cellular immune response. Specifically, the p71 protein triggered higher IgG2a levels, while the p14 protein led to elevated IgG1 levels, suggesting that IgG2a production is closely associated with a Th1-type immune response. IgG2a also plays a vital role in immune memory, with studies showing that IgG2a memory cells can swiftly produce antibodies following an initial immune response, thereby offering rapid protection during reinfection.
