Target Information
Dipeptidyl Peptidase IV is a cell surface glycoprotein receptor crucial for the costimulatory signal necessary for T-cell receptor (TCR)-mediated T-cell activation. It serves as a positive regulator of T-cell coactivation by interacting with molecules such as ADA, CAV1, IGF2R, and PTPRC. Its binding with CAV1 and CARD11 promotes T-cell proliferation and NF-kappa-B activation in a T-cell receptor/CD3-dependent manner. Additionally, its interaction with ADA plays a role in regulating lymphocyte-epithelial cell adhesion. When associated with FAP, it participates in the pericellular proteolysis of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and facilitates the migration and invasion of endothelial cells into the ECM. In mice, DPP4 performs a wide range of functions including cardiovascular protection, metabolic regulation, inflammatory response, immune regulation, and tumor development. DPP4 knockout mice demonstrate a higher survival rate and reduced infarct area following myocardial infarction, potentially due to DPP4's protective effects on cardiomyocytes.
