Target Information

Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 8 (ADAM8) may play a role in the extravasation of leukocytes. In mice, ADAM8 has a wide range of functions, impacting areas such as neurodegenerative diseases, immune and inflammatory responses, tumor progression, tissue remodeling, and bone metabolism. It is particularly significant in neurodegenerative diseases; in the Wobbler mouse model, ADAM8 expression is linked to neuron-glial cell interactions and may influence the development of neurodegenerative lesions by regulating cell adhesion. Additionally, ADAM8 exhibits potential therapeutic value in a mouse spinal cord injury model by modulating endogenous inflammatory responses and enhancing neuroprotection.
