Target Information
In mice, angiotensin II (ATII) plays a key role in various functions, including the regulation of blood pressure, vascular activity, cardiac remodeling, and inflammatory responses. It encourages the contraction and growth of vascular smooth muscle cells by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS), which in turn causes vasoconstriction and hypertension. Research on p47phox knockout mice, which exhibit a notably reduced vasoconstrictive response to angiotensin II, underscores NADPH oxidase's crucial involvement in angiotensin II-induced vasoconstriction. Furthermore, angiotensin II significantly influences cardiac remodeling and fibrosis. For instance, CCR2-deficient mice experience markedly less cardiac fibrosis and reduced cardiomyocyte apoptosis when influenced by angiotensin II.
