Target Information

Adropin plays a key role in managing glucose balance and lipid metabolism. In obese mice, it enhances glucose regulation by reducing liver glucose production, thereby lowering blood sugar levels and improving insulin sensitivity. Adropin also influences muscle substrate oxidation preference by stimulating pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH) and inhibiting crucial enzymes involved in fatty acid oxidation, like CPT-1B. In cases of diet-induced obesity in mice, Adropin treatment notably enhances lipid metabolism, decreases serum triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and positively impacts liver lipid metabolism.
