Immunoglobulin G (IgG) is a type of antibody, also known as an immunoglobulin, which is a Y-shaped protein produced by the immune system to fight against infections. IgG plays a crucial role in the adaptive immune response, which is the part of the immune system that remembers and targets specific pathogens. Adult cat sera, colostral whey, postcolostral sera, tears and nasal secretions contained IgG, IgA and IgM. IgG was the only Ig identified in precolostral sera and CSF.
