Target Information
Mouse Nucleophosmin (Npm1) is a multifunctional protein involved in various cellular processes. It is the most abundant nucleolar protein and acts as a histone chaperone, shuttling between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Npm1 is crucial for nucleolus formation through liquid-liquid phase separation, regulation of ribosome biogenesis and transport, DNA repair, and centrosome duplication. In acute myeloid leukemia (AML), Npm1 mutations are common, leading to cytoplasmic mislocalization of the protein. These mutations promote leukemogenesis by deregulating cell death and myeloid differentiation.
