Target Information
Rabbit Apolipoprotein C-I (APOC1) is a key protein involved in lipid metabolism. It associates with triglyceride-rich lipoproteins and HDL, influencing their metabolism. APOC1 inhibits enzymes like lipoprotein lipase and hepatic lipase, reducing the breakdown of triglycerides and thus increasing plasma triglyceride levels. It also activates lecithin-cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT), promoting HDL maturation. In rabbits, APOC1 does not inhibit cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) as it does in humans. This protein's role in lipid regulation makes it significant for studying cardiovascular health and related metabolic disorders in rabbits.
