Target Information

Cypermethrin is a highly active synthetic pyrethroid insecticide used extensively in agriculture and veterinary medicine to control ectoparasites like ticks, lice, and flies on livestock. Its relevance to animal-derived food safety is high due to its strong lipophilic nature. If withdrawal periods are not strictly followed after veterinary treatment, or if animals consume contaminated feed, cypermethrin residues readily accumulate in fatty tissues, milk, and egg yolks. Because excessive pyrethroid exposure can cause neurotoxicity in humans, regulatory agencies enforce strict Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) for cypermethrin in animal-derived commodities to ensure consumer safety.
