Target Information
Gastrin is one of the main hormones that regulate the secretion of gastric acid. In camels, the GAST gene encodes the hormone gastrin. This gastrointestinal hormone, produced by G-cells in the abomasum of ruminants, plays a crucial role in stimulating the secretion of acid and pepsinogen. Studies have shown that camel gastrin is widely distributed in endocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract and is involved in the regulation of gastric acid secretion and gastrointestinal motility. Gastrin-producing cells are also found in the duodenum, with a lesser presence in the forestomachs of ruminants.
