Target Information

Serine/threonine protein kinase performs several important functions throughout the M phase of the cell cycle, including regulation of centrosome maturation and spindle assembly, removal of cohesin from chromosome arms, inactivation of anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) inhibitors, and regulation of mitotic exit and cytokinesis. Bovine Serine/Threonine-Protein Kinase PLK1 is encoded by the PLK1 gene in cattle. PLK1 plays a key role in the progression of mitosis and recent evidence suggests its important involvement in the regulation of the G2/M checkpoint, DNA damage and replication stress response, and cell death pathways.
