Target Information

Klk1b5 is part of a highly conserved subfamily of the kallikrein family in mammals. Traditionally, kallikreins are associated with wound healing, but the functions of Klk1b5 appear to be more complex, involving roles in reproduction, immunity, metabolism, and chemosensation. As one of the estrogen target genes, Klk1b5 is significantly expressed in the mouse uterus. Research indicates that its expression is regulated by estrogen, with markedly increased levels during estrus and pregnancy. This expression pattern suggests that Klk1b5 may play a role in the growth and development of endometrial tissue, particularly during the proliferation stage of the reproductive cycle.
