Target Information
Bovine interferon omega-1 is encoded by the IFNW1 gene in cattle. The protein encoded by this gene is an interferon with antiviral activity. This protein binds to the interferon alpha/beta receptor but not to the interferon gamma receptor. It is a type I interferon with antiviral activity. Studies suggest that upregulation of the type I interferon protein signature has provided additional markers of disease activity and insight into the pathogenesis of the disease.
