Target Information

HSD17B10, also known as 17-β-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase X (HSD10) or 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase type-2, is a mitochondrial enzyme encoded by the HSD17B10 gene in cattle. It functions within mitochondria. It catalyzes the oxidation of a wide variety of substrates, including fatty acids, alcohols, and steroids. Research has shown that adverse effects on cognitive development caused by various missense mutations in the HSD17B10 gene are likely due to an imbalance in neurosteroid metabolism.
