Target Information
MT-ND1 is the largest subunit of complex I, also known as NADH dehydrogenase, in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. It plays a crucial role in the first step of this chain by accepting electrons from NADH (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, reduced) and transferring them to ubiquinone. NADH dehydrogenase [ubiquinone] flavoprotein 1, mitochondrial (MT-ND1) is encoded by the NDUFV1 gene in bovine. NDUFV1 binds the flavin cofactor that oxidises NADH and is the site of complex I-mediated reactive oxygen species production.
