Target Information
Swine hepcidin, is a small cationic antimicrobial peptide that plays a critical role in iron metabolism and innate immunity. It is primarily produced in the liver and is a key regulator of iron homeostasis by binding to ferroportin, the cellular iron exporter, thereby controlling iron levels in the body. In swine, Hepcidin helps to maintain iron balance and has antimicrobial properties against various pathogens.
