Target Information
Rabbit Osteocalcin (BGLAP) is a non-collagenous bone protein secreted by osteoblasts, playing a key role in bone metabolism and remodeling. It contains a Gla domain that binds to calcium and hydroxyapatite, aiding in bone mineralization. In rabbits, BGLAP not only promotes bone formation and regulates calcium-phosphate metabolism but also acts as a biomarker for bone turnover. Additionally, BGLAP has been implicated in energy metabolism, influencing glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. Its serum levels may serve as an indicator of metabolic syndrome.
