Target Information
Mouse Nuclear Factor of Activated T-cells, Cytoplasmic 1 (Nfatc1), also known as NFAT2 or NFATc, is a transcription factor involved in various biological processes. It is a cytoplasmic protein that translocates to the nucleus upon T-cell activation, where it regulates gene expression by binding to DNA. Nfatc1 plays a critical role in immune responses, particularly in T-cell activation and differentiation. It is also involved in heart development and the regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. In cancer, Nfatc1 has been implicated in both tumor suppression and progression, depending on the context. It can promote tumor growth by enhancing angiogenesis and inhibiting apoptosis, while also acting as a tumor suppressor in certain scenarios. Nfatc1 is associated with various diseases, including autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular diseases, and cancers, making it a potential therapeutic target.
