Target Information
Mouse Metalloproteinase Inhibitor 1 (TIMP1) is a protein that inhibits matrix metalloproteinases, preventing the degradation of extracellular matrix components. In mice, TIMP1 plays a role in tissue homeostasis and repair by modulating the activity of metalloproteinases, ensuring proper matrix integrity. It interacts with various matrix metalloproteinases to control their catalytic activity. TIMP1 also influences cell proliferation and survival, affecting tissue regeneration and cancer progression. Its expression is regulated in response to tissue injury and developmental signals, highlighting its importance in maintaining tissue health.
