Target Information
Mouse Elastin (Eln) is a key structural protein that provides elasticity to connective tissues, particularly in the arteries, lungs, and skin. It is synthesized as a precursor protein, tropoelastin, which assembles into elastic fibers during tissue development. Eln is essential for maintaining the mechanical properties of tissues and organs, allowing them to withstand repeated stretching and contraction. In mouse models, Eln deficiency leads to severe cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases due to the loss of tissue elasticity. Additionally, Eln has been implicated in the aging process, where its degradation contributes to the loss of skin elasticity and the development of wrinkles.
Shipping and Storage
This product is shipped with ice packs. Lyophilized protein can be stored at -80°C for 1 year. After reconstitution, the protein solution can be stored at 2-8°C for 2-7 days.
