Chicken vitellogenin-1 (VTG1) is a key yolk precursor protein synthesized in the liver and transported to the ovaries to provide nutrients for oocyte development. It supports early embryonic development by supplying lipids, proteins, minerals, and vitamins. Besides its nutritional role, VTG1 enhances immune responses by binding pathogens and has antioxidant properties, protecting eggs and larvae from infections.
